The company was started in 2017 by the founders Ryan K and Paul Pedersen. At the time, Ryan was still building out extraction and refinement technology and to help prove the model and test the equipment they operated under licence holders that held a valid ACMPR licence. This allowed Ryan and his team the ability to bring their then “Mobile Lab” onto the site of valid ACMPR licence holders, who were then able to use Nextleaf Solutions extraction technology to extraction and process their cannabis and/or biomass. This helped to prove Ryan’s technology and model at a small scale, the next step was to bring on a team of engineers and scientists in order to scale it up. Fast forward a year to the fall of 2019 when the extraction and refinement skid was fully built out, arriving on site at Nextleaf Labs in December of 2019. It took a few months to fully commission our cannabis refinery and get it up and operating, and in May 2020 we announced our first major contract deals.
